The UnAdoptables

  • The Unadoptable: Behaviour Work With High-Risk Dogs is a 5-day intensive professional programme delivered inside real rescue environments. It is designed for staff and trainers working with dogs whose behaviour presents genuine safety, welfare, and ethical challenges.

Participants work directly with centre dogs to learn structured behavioural assessment, risk management, behaviour modification, progress tracking, and ethical decision-making, including rehoming suitability and end-of-life considerations. This is realistic, evidence-led work focused on what genuinely improves outcomes for dogs and people.

    Duration: 5 days (10:00–16:00, flexible)
    Format: In-kennel, practical, case-led
    Cost: £990 (non-members) | £800 (Academy members)

Rescue Dog to Super Dog

  • Rescue Dog to Super Dog: Support, Service & Working Potential in Rescue Dogs is a 5-day practical, in-kennel programme exploring the potential for rescue dogs to succeed in support, assistance, or working roles. Delivered inside real rescue environments, the course focuses on assessment, foundation training, welfare boundaries, and realistic role suitability, not novelty outcomes.

Participants work directly with centre dogs, learning how to assess suitability for different roles, train core “super dog” foundation skills, and understand where working potential supports welfare, enrichment, and rehoming success — and where it does not.

    Duration: 5 days (10:00–16:00, flexible)
    Format: Practical, in-kennel, real-dog work
Cost: £990 for non members £800 for Academy Members

Skills, Drills and Mechanics

  • Skills, Drills & How Dogs Learn: Core Training Mechanics is a 5-day practical, in-kennel training programmefocused on building clean, effective training mechanics that directly improve dog welfare, handler confidence, and rehoming outcomes. Delivered inside public-facing rescue environments, the course concentrates on how dogs learn, how trainers communicate clearly, and how small mechanical improvements create faster, more reliable behaviour change.

Participants work hands-on with centre dogs to develop outcome-led training plans, refine luring, shaping and capturing skills, apply markers and reinforcement with precision, and proof behaviours for real-life environments.

    Duration: 5 days (10:00–16:00, flexible)
    Format: Practical, in-kennel, real-dog work
Cost: £990 for non members and £800 for members

The Real Dog Yoga

  • Dog Yoga: Choice-Based Handling & Stress Reduction Protocol is a 5-day practical, in-kennel programme for professionals working with dogs experiencing shutdown, fear, or chronic stress. Delivered in real rescue environments, the course teaches a structured, choice-based handling protocol designed to reduce anxiety, increase perceived safety, and support calmer, more predictable day-to-day care.

Participants work hands-on with centre dogs to learn how to identify stress signals, apply a mat-based protocol, measure stress reduction using observable metrics, and integrate choice-led handling into routine interactions and trigger exposure.

    Duration: 5 days (10:00–16:00, flexible)
    Format: Practical, choice-based, real-dog work
Cost: £990 for non members and £800 for academy members

Bitches Unmuzzled with Jo-Rosie & Kelly Dunbar

  • Jo-Rosie and Kelly Dunbar have been close friends for around 15 years since they met at a Scent Workshop in the UK. They felt it was time for some raw, unedited opinions and conversations in the dog training industry so decided to record their catch up calls and release them to the public. With no subject off the cards, nothing but truthful opinions and no experience censored: enjoy Bitches Unmuzzled...

Play Therapy & Behaviour Mechanics

  • This two-day intensive workshop introduces a structured, psychology-informed approach to assessment and behaviour change, using live case studies to demonstrate the work in real time. Participants observe full behavioural assessments and progressive intervention with dogs presenting with severe problem behaviours, including separation anxiety, human aggression, dog-to-dog aggression, excessive barking, and resource guarding.

The workshop integrates Play Therapy as both an assessment and modification tool and places strong emphasis on behaviour mechanics, showing how precision in handling, movement, and timing can dramatically alter outcomes.

Jo-Rosie Haffenden
Trainer, behaviourist, TV presenter, author, though leader and industry expert

The dog training industry pits science against practical experience on a daily basis, when really the two should be working together.

Learn to walk the walk and talk the talk. I’m sick of the divide between varying methodologies; people who rave about academia over practical experience; and people who think if you can do it, you can teach it and that the science is unnecessary. Essentially it’s all a grey smudge there is no black and white; or wrong or right way. Like all things it’s a mix of science and art: skill and understanding.

These courses are designed to help trainers understand the how’s and why’s but most importantly know specifically how to use the how’s and why’s to create more effective, ethical and client centred training programs.
